How to Submit Reports: A How to Guide

There are many ways that you can submit a report, here is a short guide on the different ways in which you can contribute to this map:

To submit reports via the website:

Click on the “Submit a Report” button at the top of the webpage or click on the “Submit a Report” tab.

It will direct you to a report template page where you can enter in the information for the event/incident/story that you want to submit. It should look like this:

Here are some insights into how to fill out the report form:

Title: Create a title that clearly represents the report and make it in present tense. The title can be the same as the article you are reporting, however it can be anything that clearly articulates the report i.e. "World's Only LGBT Party Launches Election Campaign"

: Copy the most important information from the article you are reporting or give a description about the incident or event you are reporting on. If it is a report about an incident of discrimination, give all the details of what happened, if it is a pride or rally give in formation on where it is occurring, what time, etc.

Date and Time: The date and time the event happened or is happening, not the news article date (unless event date is not specified).

Categories: Pick as many as fits the report/event/story.

Location: Make sure you pinpoint the location of your report/event. You cannot save a report without entering in a location.

·Try searching for the city/location in the “find location” field underneath the map.

·If you can’t find it, look up the coordinates on a search engine such as www.google.com.

·If unavailable for that village/city - find the township or province instead.

· Once you have pinpointed your location, remember to double click so that it turns green. This indicates that you have saved this location.

·You can zoom into the map if you feel like it will be beneficial to other viewers as well.

Refine Location: Make sure you change the location name to be more specific. Ex. Nonthaburi, Bangkok instead of simply Bangkok, Thailand as this is the location that others will see. News Source: Always find the original link. Do not put pdf documents. You can put multiple links.

Photos: Find as many pictures/videos associated with the report, story, or incident, feel free to upload your own photos and videos as well!

News Source: Please always add the original link to the news source, if it applies. Please do not worry about this if you are reporting on an incident or event that has not been published. Please also disregard this if you are sharing a personal story.
